I find that Ceu is one of few artists that really makes me feel connected to her music, and I don't even speak Portuguese. Something about her melodies is so sophisticated and cool, and when I do translate the lyrics I'm never disappointed. I love that she continues to elevate and take chances artistically. You can really see the growth from her self-titled debut to Novela. Loved this piece!

Hi karleigh,

Thanks for reading the piece and for taking the time to comment. I was aware of Ceu from the release of her debut, but I lost track of her for awhile and was so pleasantly surprised at the turns her records have made since then.

As a Brazilian it fills me with pride to read such praises about one of the greatest Brazilian artists of her generation. Just a minor note, if I may: northeastern Brazil does not border with Peru or Colombia. Northwestern Brazil does. Suriname borders more up North. But their music influences are all over the place. Great piece!

Thank you for this wonderful recommendation. This stuff is great! I'm trying to move on from the first album but I keep starting it over.

Fantastic! Fernanda's first album is a must hear, and she's got some other great releases as well, including a good live one. Thanks for reading NDIM.
