In Ten Tracks is not a best of or greatest hits or even necessarily a list of favorites. They're songs by an artist that stuck with me for various reasons through the years. Mix tape/playlist staples
Great list! I like that you included some deep tracks and forgotten singles (like Empty Garden!) Here are a few more I like that either weren't released as singles or weren't big hits:
(Gotta Get A) Meal Ticket - from Captain Fantastic
Harmony - from Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding - from Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Simple Life - from The One
Porch Swing in Tupelo - from Peachtree Road
Love Song - from Tumbleweed Connection
The Emperor's New Clothes - from Songs from the West Coast
Bell had the Spinners cut a different version of "Are You Ready For Love?" soon after working with Sir Elton, and it was a minor R&B hit for them.
It's a pity John and Bell didn't end up getting along. Another track from those sessions, "Nice And Slow", shows exactly how comfortable Elton was in a soul music setting (though I suspect those familiar with "Bennie And The Jets" and "Philadelphia Freedom" already knew that).
I am impressed that I haven’t heard of five of these tracks. I have wrestled with playlists as an odd-on to my own ‘stack, but decided to leave that to the people who live with and by playlists. But I will listen to these Elton tunes I don’t know, because your recommendations are always interesting, Marshall.
It's hard to choose just one but "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" has to be my favorite EJ song.

Another amazing deep dive into a fantastic artist, with quite a few tracks I don’t know. Thanks so much Marshall!!
