Nice to see some tracks from Joni's later albums mentioned here I like any fan have all her albums & no not picking favorites she like Van Morrison is a crotchety genius I love everything they do. One of her later songs that I really adore is too gray rooms it has a certain nostalgic melancholy that I just fall for every time. I think in her albums from the 90s there's a bit of maturity and social commentary that I'll always connect with.

‘Free Man in Paris’ is absolutely one of my favorites. I saw her live at the Greek Theater, Los Angeles, where her show consisted mainly of ‘Court and Spark,’ with standards such as ‘Big Yellow Taxi’ performed as well. One of my favorite performers in my favorite L.A. venue? Can’t beat it!

Lovely to read about all of these. Hejira is my favourite, and I will go back and listen to Don Juan and Mingus again - I’m not as familiar with those. Great as well to see Turbulent Indigo, a less well known track and album from her later years. I remember spending money on a cd as a 19 year old for Taming the Tiger, which was probably the most unlikely use of my cd budget at the time, but which I enjoyed immensely.

Thoughtful grouping indeed. The combinations with Pat Metheny and Peter Gabriel make a lot of musical sense, given her progressively jazzy inclination. Joni's relationship to bass is like a romance in itself. Hejira was as much a spiritual expression as a musical one. Thanks for a well-curated playlist.
