Thanks for a fun read and good recommendations. I love the stories behind the records. I'm listening to Kosmischer Laufer now -- they sound dead on Kraftwerk.

A favorite musical hoax is when The Alarm released a hit single as The Poppy Fields and got a band of chipper young folks for the video.

Hi, Dave, thanks for taking the time to read and comment. I remember The Alarm, but I didn’t know about their Poppy Fields escapade, which is brilliant.

I downloaded the Kosmischer Laufer albums and enjoy listening to them while knocking about the house.

Really interesting. Makes you think about the various scams the industry pulls off, like all the groups not allowed to sing or play on their own records, like the Monkees, Byrds, etc. but the audience thinks they did.
